Triangles of Truth funds support early childhood education for Darfuri refugee children who have fled to Eastern Chad, many as orphans. Education is a basic human right and, for these children, an immediate humanitarian need. School, above all else, offers them shelter, food, and emotional support. It also prevents the perpetuation of the cycle of violence, as children enrolled in school are less likely to recruited as child soldiers and sucked into the cycle of violence.
100% of the proceeds from Triangles of Truth campaigns around the world are forwarded to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Eastern Chad and implemented to address the needs of 8,000 children in the Djabal and Goz Amer refugee camps. They will support the construction of the first preschools in the region as part of the Little Ripples project.
Specifically, in the 2013-2014 academic year, our movement has pledged to raise $53,000 for the sustainability of one class in the first set of six Little Ripples. This amount will sponsor a portion of the shared space costs (1/6 of the kitchen, latrines, water point, shaded area) and the first year of a class of Little Ripples: teacher training, teacher staff (school health educator, guards, kitchen staff) salaries, classroom tools, daily snack and meals, uniforms and project management.
Online donations are welcome; they will be added to our pool of proceeds and sent at the next transfer date. Every dollar contributed will also sponsor a physical “triangle of truth,” honoring one Holocaust victim, which we will sign in your name and display respectfully.
